what is Bitumen
Bitumen is an oil based substance. It is a semi-solid hydrocarbon product produced by removing the lighter fractions (such as liquid petroleum gas, petrol and diesel) from heavy crude oil during the refining process.

VG10 bitumen is the softest grade of viscosity bitumen.

This type of bitumen is widely used for spraying applications and surface coating.
VG 10 bitumen means that your bitumen is also suitable for paving roads in a very cold and cold climate instead of the old 80/100 penetration grade.
The air temperature that matches VG10 bitumen ranges from -100C to 250C.
Due to the high temperatures in hot climatic zones, the application of VG10 cannot provide desirable rutting resistance.

This type of bitumen is also used to manufacture bitumen emulsions and modified bitumen products.

As a viscosity grade bitumen, VG10 has a better performance in cold weather.
Refer to the table to see the bitumen VG 10 specification.

Bitumen penetration grade 160/220

Bitumen grade 160/220 is a premium brand that is dark brown or black color similar to cement-shape semi-solid or viscous liquid form produced by the non-destructive refining of crude oil during petroleum refining.
The exact chemical composition of bitumen is dependent on the chemical complexity of the original crude oil and the manufacturing process.
Penetration bitumen grade 160/220 has properties of 160~220 desimilimeter and softening point 35~43 Deg.C.
Bitumen 160/220 could also be a specialist fuel grade, typically exclusively created in regarding 65th of refineries around the world and with a yield of exclusively 3%~4% of the total crude slate, bituminous crudes from the likes of oil countries tend to supply rather additional, but these a further specialized refinement methodology, means that on the way facet the potential of most ancient refineires.

Application of bitumen 160/220 grade:

Penetration bitumen grade 160/220 is used for paving, road construction and used for hot mixed asphalt because of the properties of very strong viscosity compared to other grade.

BITUMEN AH GRAD:

Bitumen is a heavy, semi solid oil derivative that gradually softens when heated.
Bitumen is primarily used in the construction of bituminous paving or asphalt roads.

Due to its water-proofing properties it is also used for roofing as well as other household and industrial applications, from emulsion paints to sound-proofing.

There are different qualities of Bitumen which will vary according to the type of crude oil refined.

ICIS pricing focuses on Bitumen 60/70 rated according to the penetration and softening point tests at 25 deg C.
ICIS also reports on bitumen class 170 and class 320 rated according to the Australian market standard.

AH grades are mostly used in domestic China market AH grades are as below:
  • AH-50

  • AH-70

  • AH-90

  • AH-110

  • AH-130

BITUMEN VS ASPHALT
What’s the difference between Bitumen and Asphalt?
Should I use Bitumen or Asphalt?
Bitumen is actually the liquid binder that holds asphalt together. The term bitumen is often mistakenly used to describe asphalt.
A bitumen-sealed road has a layer of bitumen sprayed and then covered with an aggregate. This is then repeated to give a two-coat seal.
Asphalt is produced in a plant that heats, dries and mixes aggregate, bitumen and sand into a composite mix.
It is then applied through a paving machine on site as a solid material at a nominated or required thickness, relative to the end use.
Asphalt results in a smoother and more durable surface than a bitumen-sealed road.
